Every once in a while we here at Menefits get tired of the same old workout routines. We may be following specific training styles or programs designed to create specific results, either option we eventually get bored. Bored most often leads to a lapse in consistency, and a loss of gains. When this happens the best thing you can do for yourself is a change of program. The program we're using to get us back in the habit is Stronglifts.

Squats, bench, and deadlifts. The pillars of Stronglifts

Stronglifts is an incredibly easy and simple workout program that is guaranteed to get results. The program consists of alternating five lifts on a 5x5 set and rep. The workouts you do on the program are squats, bench, deadlift, overhead press, and bent over barbell rows. These five workouts are great full body moves that build strength fast.

The best part about doing the Stronglifts program is that it removes the daily grind of gym. Stronglifts is a full body program the only requires three days of lifting a week. A lot of people and programs will swear by a five to six day a week lifting schedule, but for beginners or those looking to lift on a time crunch three days a week will be more than enough.

The way the routine works is that on your chosen days, for me it is mon/wed/fri, you perform three lifts. Everyday begins with a 5x5 of squats and then a 5x5 of bench and rows or a 5x5 of overhead press and a 1x5 of dead lift. Each workout you add five more pounds to the bar, in the case of dead lift you add ten pounds each lift. As the days turn to weeks you can easily add 50 lbs or more to your lifts! The schedule works as follows, the first week is A week. The workouts performed are days 1 and 3, squats, bench, row, and squats, overhead, dead on day two. The following week you perform the opposite, squats, overhead, dead twice and squats, bench, row once.

This workout routine is a time saver and a great strength builder. The simple lifts make things easy to follow, and as the weights get heavier those days off of lifting will become much more important. For beginners or intermediate lifters looking for a change of pace, we recommend Stronglifts as a simple and effective way to build strength and spice up your workout routine.
