Showing up the gym for the first time can be a bit intimidating and self contious. There are a lot of of beginners that go through this including myself when I first started weightlifting. This can be due to multitude of factors like not knowing what to do, how the equipments work, strong muscular guys lifting heavy weights making you feel discouraged, along with many other issues. The truth is everybody has to start from somewhere and since you took that first step of stepping in the gym we have a step by step plan for you to be successful, lift safely and stay healthy in reaching your fitness goals.
These steps should be included every time you go to the gym
Step 1
Choose the right gym
There are different types of gyms and it is. Why important to choose the right one depending on your goal. There are crossfit gyms aimed at gaining an aesthetic physique through obstacle course and high intensity workouts to burn fat and tone up the body compared to planet fitness which promotes itself as a weight loss kind of gym, taking the intimidation factor out of it by keeping their weighs at a low and having basic equipments which are easy to use by an average person. There is also powerhouse gym which is mainly visited by bodybuilders and strong seasoned lifters due to their advanced equipments and weights going up to 200 pounds. I would recommend Planet fitness for beginners because it is a judgment free gym, basic equipments and one of the cheapest gym at a rate of 10 dollers a month.
Stretching
One of the most important factors but often ignored in weigh lifting is Stretching. Before you lift anything and put resistance on your body, the body has to slowly spread blood throughout so your muscles become loose to handle the strain and resistance you are going to place on it. It helps you lift safely and prevents injuries. Think of your body as a car, Same where you warm up your car in the winter time before driving it to prevent damage to the car. That's the same way you you warm of the body by stretching to prevent injuries.

See a trainer or workout with an experienced buddy
One way of feeling more comfortable at the gym your first time is by working with a buddy, an experienced one who knows what their doing. You might be confused on what exercise to do or how to do it so a trainer or an experienced buddy can teach you how to do the movements correctly and which exercises to do to help you reach your goal.
Hydration
Water fuels the body and it is very important to stay hydrated especially when it comes to working out.Dehydration causes cramps, decrease strength and endurance and increases sweat. Staying hydrated with water or Gatorade during workouts reduces fatigue, improves mind muscle connection which leads to productive and safer workouts.
There are more basic guides for beginners to meet their fitness goals but these guides are a good startups to go into week 1 of training. Hopefully with your gym body buddy by your side, water and our guide to safe lifting you will be more advance in weigh lifting.
